This really is an excellent itinerary for a day tour that takes you through Penglipuran Village for an insight into Balinese culture on the way to Kintamani, stopping at the famous Satria Coffee Plantation and down to the temple on the edge of Lake Batur. On the way back you have a couple of interesting options: either head east to Batur Temple, before driving back through the incredibly picturesque Sideman countryside. Or come back just on the eastern side of Ubud stopping at Gunung Kawi and Tirta Empul, two of the most interesting and accessible temples in Bali. Then you have the option of visiting either Goa Gajah (the Elephant Cave) or Tegenungan Waterfall.
